Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Attendees:   Marvin Creech, Jon Tack, Elvin Tack, Jeremy Rogers, Ted Hee

Meeting brought to order at 07:15 by Chair Marvin Creech.

Website Renewal Fees:

Discussion on Website Fees. Jeremy indicated that it would cost 107.40 for one year renewal. Two years would be $198.00 and three years would be $250.20. Ted suggested that we only pay the one year fee in lieu of the upcoming election and that we may want to conserve our funds to help a Constitution Party candidate.

Motion made to pay for one year by Jon with a second by Ted. Motion approved.

National Convention:

Jon and Jeremy will be attending the national meeting to represent the Iowa Constitution Party. Mar 1 is the deadline for submitting platform ideas, suggestions and modifications to known existing planks. After considerable discussion, Ted made a motion that we work on the NDAA act addendum and submit our thoughts to Darrel Castle at National. Motion approved with Jeremy sending the update.

There will be four seminars at the National Convention. Jon and Jeremy would only be able to attend two and asked the group which two we thought would be the better ones to attend. The seminars are : Party Building, Media, Candidates and Ballot Access. After considerable discussion, it was determined that Party Building and Media would be the most beneficial to our group. A motion was made by Jon, seconded by Elvin. Motion approved.

A check for $100.00 was sent to the National Constitution Party to allow the Iowa party to vote at the National Convention. Jon indicated the check had been mailed to National.

The national party has a facebook account and has a section on national candidates committed to running for office. If you are familiar with facebook, take a look.

Candidate on Ballot:

We will need to get 1500 signatures to put the CP candidates for national office on the Iowa ballot. The signatures must be from at least 16 different counties in Iowa.

Register Constitution Party of Iowa with state of Iowa:

We need to get 850 signatures to get party recognized by the State of Iowa for 2 years. We will also have to submit the Iowa Constitution Bylaws to the Secretary of State.

Candidates:

Ted indicated he was going to run for the Iowa House of Representatives. No other Iowa candidate is known at this time.

Contacts/Advertising

Jeremy indicated he had tried to get a banner ad with google but they continued to find some little detail that was unacceptable and as of this meeting has not been successful in placing the banner ad.

Marvin indicated that he had tried to contact and interested person but that individual’s hotmail account had been hacked and had been removed. Hopefully, the individual will get a new email address and contact us again.

Constitution Contest:

It was determined that we did not have the resources or the time to work on this project this year. It was agreed to defer until a later date.

Next meeting:

After some discussion, it was determined that we should have a face to face meeting to work on Bylaws updates. We do have a requirement to hold an annual meeting before June 30 of each year, per the bylaws.

It was agreed to hold a face to face meeting on Saturday, March 24, 2012 At 01:00 pm. Marvin was going to check on a place to hold the meeting with the Pleasant Hill library as the first choice.

Motion made by Jon, seconded by Ted to adjourn the meeting.

Motion approved and meeting adjourned at 08:50 pm.

Respectively submitted:

Elvin Tack, secretary of Iowa Constitution Party

P.S. An email on February 29 confirmed the meeting place at the Pleasant Hill Library on March 24.
