March State Party Meeting

    • Discussion of currently known candidates seeking the Constitution Party's nomination for the office of President.  This discussion will help determine how our national convention delegate votes are cast.
    • Call for State level candidates!  If you are interested in running for office as a Constitution Party of Iowa candidate, make sure you attend this meeting to discuss your background and credentials, and the office you are interested in!

 

Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Marvin Creech, Jon Tack, Elvin Tack, Jeremy Rogers, Ted Hee.

Two prospective members attended the first part of the meeting: Jim Allison and Jeff McDowell.

Meeting brought to order at 01:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance led my Marvin and prayer by Ted.

Officers were introduced to the prospective members,

There was much good conversation with Jim and Jeff. Many questions about the party and its history. Both individuals indicated and interest in joining our organization with Marvin extended an invitation to each of them and explained our dues setup.

After Jim and Jeff parted, the regular meeting began. A motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting was made by Ted, seconded by Jon. Motion to accept passed.

Bylaws Update:
Discussion on having a bond for the state treasurer or district treasurers ensued. It was thought that a private insurance carrier would be needed to underwrite the bond. Consensus was that the state did not require the bonding. Jon volunteered to check it out for the next meeting.

National Convention:
Jon and Jeremy will be voting on a candidate for the Constitution Party of Iowa, Jon indicated that so far no one candidate has really stood out. Jeremy agreed. Discussion followed on determining which candidate should be supported.

Jeremy has a polling program that could be put on the website to help delegates make a more informed decision.

Jeremy and Jon indicated they would be updating the website daily from the National Convention.

Jon indicated that we will need to start collecting signatures to get the CP Candidates on the ballot.        

Marvin moved and Ted seconded to give Jon and Jeremy authority to vote for the candidate they feel will be best for the party.

Jon asked for $100 for gas expense for driving to the National Convention. Marvin move to increased to $150, Seconded by ted, motion passed.

Jon identified some preambles for various states including some religious wording changes.

Website:
Marvin moved and Ted seconded to refund Jeremy on his cost to renew the website. Amount of $107.40 approved for payment.

Chaplain:
Marvin suggested creating a position of Chaplin for the Iowa Constitution Party. Discussion ensued but no further action taken at this time.

Constitution Party Signs:
Marvin indicated he would like to be able to place some Constitution Party signs around the state, He is still investigating what may be the most economical method to accomplish this goal. More later.

State Candidate:
Ted had indicated an interest in running for a state office but had not yet been able to finalize his decision.

District 2 Bank Account:
District 2 still has an active bank account and Ted wanted to know what we should do about it. After some discussion, Jon moved that the bank account be closed and the balance transferred to the State Treasury. Second by Marvin. Motion passed.

May Meeting
Discussion held on when and where to hold the May meeting. It was decided to hold it on May 5, 2012. Jon will seek out a location in the Webster City/Fort Dodge area. Meeting time will be 01:00 p.m.
